This conference is designed to be a review and update covering a wide range of sports medicine topics, utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach. The purpose of this conference is:
- To provide a valuable source of current “cutting-edge” medical knowledge to professionals actively engaged in treating athletic patients;
- To enhance the knowledge base of osteopathic physicians preparing to sit for the examination leading to Certification in Sports Medicine;
- To provide an academic forum for osteopathic physicians and allied health professionals to discuss current and controversial issues in the field of sports medicine; and
- To provide a forum for osteopathic physicians and allied health professionals to understand the value of working together as a sports medicine team.
To broaden the understanding and knowledge base of the factors and techniques involved in the pathophysiology of dancer injuries.
To expose clinicians to a wide variety of performing arts activities and their specific injury mechanisms.
To improve clinicians' use of alternative treatments for inflammation, injury, and disease, such as nutrition, acupuncture, platelet-rich plasma, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and psychology.
To update clinicians on the national treatment trends for concussion.

- Up to 27.0 hours of Category 1-A CME credits. (Approval by AOA is currently pending.)
Registration onsite will be open from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Registration will open again on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 7:00 a.m. and continues to be open throughout the conference. The Clinical Conference will commence on Wednesday morning, April 27, 2011, at 8:00 a.m. and includes an evening welcome reception, special interest luncheons and dinners, general session, breakout sessions, exhibits, networking opportunities and social events.
Registration cancellations will be accepted in writing only. A refund will be provided until Friday, April 8, 2011. If received by April 8, 2011, AOASM will apply a $50 administrative fee, and refund the remainder of your registration after the meeting. If received after April 8, 2011, no refunds will be given. AOASM negotiates favorable rates at their host hotels through contractual arrangements. If AOASM does not fill their room block, penalties may be applied by the hotel. We encourage you to book your room at the AOASM headquarters hotel in order to support the Association. Thank you.
AOASM has requested that the AOA Council on Continuing Medical Education approve the Annual Clinical Conference program up to 27.0 hours and the Pre-Conference workshop up to 12.0 hours of AOA Category 1-A CME credits. Approval is currently pending. Register for continuing education credits by checking ALL of the applicable boxes on the registration form.
The American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education for certified athletic trainers. The Clinical Conference program has been approved for up to 27.0 hours of continuing education credits.
Physical Therapy Credits
Continuing education (CE) requirements for physical therapists vary from state to state. Most states that mandate CE for renewal of licensure have a process in place where an individual PT/PTA licensee may petition directly to the state licensing agency for acceptance of a continuing education course. Check with your state licensing board for the proper procedures and forms.
Please note: You will receive a credit reporting form when you pick up your registration materials onsite and you will be responsible for completing and returning this form to the AOASM registration desk prior to the end of the conference.

Sports Medicine Examination for Certification of Added Qualifications (CAQ)
AOASM will be offering the Sports Medicine Examination for Certification of Added Qualifications (CAQ) at 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. The Recertification Exam will also be offered from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. You must pre-register with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to sit for either exam. AOASM does not coordinate the registration for the exam. On-site check-in will be at 12:00 p.m. and seating/instructions at 12:45 p.m. For more information, please visit the AOASM website at http://aoasm.org/boardcert.cfm.
The AOASM Research and Case Presentation Committee would like to inform you the criteria for submission of either a case or research abstract are available now to download. It is the Committee's goal to have all Sports Medicine Fellowship Programs participating with a poster presentation, a case podium presentation, or a research podium presentation.
All participants will receive a certificate of participation. There will be a prize for the first and second place research presentations, a separate prize for first and second place case presentation, and a separate prize for the best poster presentation. Abstracts chosen for presentation will be accepted for publication in the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine.
DEADLINE EXTENSION: All Case Presentations must be received at the national office by 11:59 pm CST on Sunday, February 20, 2011.
All Research Abstracts must be received at the national office by 11:59 pm CST on Sunday, February 27, 2011.
