Student/Resident/Fellow Luncheon

Back by popular demand, a student/resident/fellow luncheon hosted by the AOASM will be held Friday, May 4, 2018, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Please indicate your attendance on the registration form.

Obstacle Course Running Fundraiser Event

Two years ago, President Bytomski “upped the ante” on our traditional 5K fun run in Tempe with a body-weight, calisthenics-based race. With Columbus being the home of the best CrossFit equipment supplier in the world, we are going to “see and raise” him by adding a true obstacle course in the middle of our fun run! Cargo nets, truck tires, and walls are only part of the challenge participants will face at Scioto Audubon Park. This park is open to the public, and participants of all skill and fitness levels will have a great time! The distance of the course will be reduced to 3K, as the obstacle course adds to the physicality of the run.

Participation is only $20 for Physician/Allied Health Professionals, $10 for Fellow/Resident/Intern, and free for Students, and all proceeds will benefit the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center affiliated with the James Cancer Center. The Run is Thursday, May 3 from 5:30 p.m -7:30 p.m in Scioto Audubon Park. Prizes will be awarded at the “May the Fourth Be With You” reception Friday night. We welcome all attendees and guests for the conference to pre-register for this event on the registration form.

The Russell M. Wright Memorial Keynote Luncheon

The Rusty Wright Memorial Lecture will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018. The keynote luncheon will be located at The Renaissance Hotel, and the guest speaker will be Chris Spielman, former All-American for The Ohio State Buckeyes and NFL football player, and currently analyst for Fox Sports and Cancer Warrior. This keynote luncheon is scheduled from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. Pre-registration and an additional fee of $40 for Physician/Allied Health Professionals, and $20 for Fellow/Resident/Students is required. This fee includes a ticket to the luncheon and CME for attending the guest speaker lecture luncheon. Please register (yourself and guests) on the conference registration form.

Chris Spielman is an All-Star linebacker from Massillon, Ohio. He was a two-time All-American for The Ohio State Buckeyes. Chris played 11 years in the NFL for the Detroit Lions, Buffalo Bills, and Cleveland Browns. He represented the Detroit Lions in four Pro Bowls and was named the team’s defensive MVP in 1993 and 1994. Chris was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009.

Chris was a College Football Analyst with ESPN for 15 years and in 2016 moved to Fox Sports as an NFL Football Analyst. He also hosts a new sports radio show, Spielman and Hooley Mornings, on iHeart Radio 105.7 The Zone. Chris continues the fight that he and his late wife Stefanie started together shortly after her first diagnosis of breast cancer. Over the years more than $22 million has been raised for the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research and the Stefanie Spielman Patient Assistance Fund. Chris has four children and remarried in 2013 to Carrie Yocom, who brought with her two more daughters. He found his biggest opponent to be off the field. Chris’ life has order: faith, family, and community–and he lives it daily in that order.
